Forever Hibernating 2017- The Reversal

Hi... I guess I'm back?!

If you're reading this and you're unfamiliar with who I am, I shall introduce myself as Carmen.

A lactose intolerant who loves all things dairy. Marketing Management undergraduate who hasn't gotten food poisoning...yet! Crisps addict with a weakness for potato products because potatoes are the god of all vegetables. Chopsticks are the superior utensil of all kitchen utensils. Bilingual in English and Cantonese but apparently I have a strong British accent in my Cantonese- who knows anymore?

I hope you get a better picture of who I am :)

I'm ready to return to return to this blog after taking multiple breaks throughout the year due to different changes in my life like a-levels, travelling and university. I can officially say I'm back to working on this blog as my creative outlet but this blog definitely needs a rebrand because as I've grown older, my interests have inevitably change so I want this blog to correlate this.

Products ready for their bye byes

I've always wanted to write a post about product empties, confirming that I've finally used up the product and that my impulse purchases have been worthwhile. As a result, it has led to months of endless hoarding of empty product tubes and products destined for the bin.

You may feel like this is an inadequate amount of empties that I have accumulated but it's due to the fact that I instinctively throw finished products into the bin before I can think  about this blog post. I finally feel like it's time that they make their journey into the bin instead of hogging a drawer space where I can put other goodies, am I right?

No- Sebum Mineral Powder - Innisfree
Not entirely cheap as chips but it's still a bargain. I've already repurchased backups as the products do exactly what it's meant to do with no faults therefore it's only imperative that I repurchase this product.

Dream Touch Lumi Concealer - Maybelline
When I was getting interested in makeup, I bought this product thinking it was for spot concealing however, when i got home and plastered it onto my face I realised the product had a salmony tinge, being naive I thought the product had gone out of date.

A few month later and the discovery of colour correcting and the right purpose of this product, I was able to use it up swiftly.

AC Clean Up Cushion - Etude House

This was my favourite cushion foundation amongst those that I purchased from my haul post which I posted last year here

Wake Me Up Concealer - Rimmel

It started to smell funny, out it goes!

24hr Colour Tattoo in Metallic Pomegranate and Pink Gold
Considering there was a layer of fine dust on top of these cream shadows and I had to physically blow off the plume of dust and the cream could be mistaken as cement for your house so I think it's time to say our goodbyes.

Where I've Been or Where I've Not Been lol

I'm currently sitting in the sixth form common room, tapping out my overdue thoughts and feelings onto my neglected blog in order to procrastinate, even if only for a few minutes.

T'is the season of exams and revision. Like all other a-level students I've been trying to revise diligently by sticking to my revision time table- but reality always turns out differently when there is a revision timetable so I've been following it loosely-very loosely. I honestly think I have underestimated how hard sixth form was going to be. Nowadays, I'm not even surprised if a person just starts having a breakdown in the common room. If you haven't had a breakdown, you have not experienced the life of a true sixth form student with the ongoing stress and time is not your friend.

This very very small post is an update to where I've been, with sporadic posts here and there, you can see that I am the prime example of poor time management. Nevertheless, this update is about finally finishing my exams next week and as the countdown to summer gets smaller and smaller, the grin plastered onto my face gets bigger and bigger much like a child marveling a new toy. After all the breakdowns and stress filled weeks, you can say it's fianlly sigh of relief that I can finally see the end point.

Hopefully by the end of this summer, I have organised my life a bit better than I have now lol

The Green Edit

I'm a person who lives for the perfect aesthetic, anything which is visually appealing attracts me like a magpie to all things sparkly. One of my favourite aesthetic is colour coordination; anything matching and complimenting each other is one of the small joys I have in everyday life. It's only logical that I create a colour themed post with products found around my household.

The first colour edit of the year would be GREEN. Pantone is a corporation which announces the official 'Colour of the Year' and for 2017, they have declared it would be a 'zesty green'. The reasoning behind this refreshing colour explained by Pantone when they have said 'we know what kind of world we live are living in- one that is very stressful and intense. This is the colour of hopefulness and our connection to nature.". I think this is the perfect shade describing the year of 2017.

Review | Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover

When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she knows it isn’t love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her.

Never ask about the past.
Don’t expect a future.

They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all.

Hearts get infiltrated.
Promises get broken.
Rules get shattered.

Love gets ugly.

Review

Rate: ★★★★/5

Colleen Hoover is an author who you can trust to write a riveting novel. To put it simply, she can do no wrong. I had high expectations for this novel as all previous books that I've read, I had completely fallen in love with - the characters, every word and thought  was laced with something special .

I first read this when it was newly released in 2014 and it had hundreds and hundreds of rave reviews fueling the bonfire of excitement that was already ignited. When I flipped to the last page of the book, I was confused. Did I read the same book as others who were raving and singing their praises? Did I miss a couple of chapters? It dawned on me that I was disappointed and frustrated. It was thrust into the back of my kindle however, I had a change of mindset, determined to give this book another chance because I refused to believe the outcome and here I am.

Korean Travel 2016 | A few hours at Seoraksan National Park

Guess who's back after a mini hiatus after each post which seems to be a trend on this blog but I recently transferred my holiday photos onto the computer and I'm getting reminiscent of this trip already.

When you think of Korea, people often think about the hustle and bustle of Seoul with it's booming beauty and fashion trends where a shopping-lover would mistake it for paradise or a foodie may get overwhelmed with all the different streetfoods and eating culture where everything is instagram-worthy but I often think the natural face of Korea is neglected. Through this small snippet of my trip, I was able to appreciate nature and where my tour guide said it would be a 'cleansing experiencing'.

Project Pan #2 | Am I ever hitting pan?

Happy New Year!
This is not a success story, this is how I epically failed my project pan (here) after a year. Enjoy!
Solar Powder Bronzer | Soap and Glory  (80% Bronzer finished)
Bronzers are a daily necessity especially in the summer when I want that sun-kissed glow or contoured jaw line so sharp it can cut diamond. To put it simply, I enjoy my bronzers. On the first edition of this project, I had already hit pan on this product. This time round you can see a large broad bean shaped pan showing on the bronzers meaning there has been steady progress.

I barely touch the highlighter as it's dark when I don't have a tan which is 95% of the year meaning there has been little progress as I only use it in the summer.
